Soil Mapping

Many local jurisdictions require comprehensive soil mapping and site evaluation before a property can be subdivided for development. John A. Raber & Associates provides soil mapping services to developers and realtors to determine whether a parcel is suitable for development, utilizing on-site wastewater systems.

The objective of a detailed soil map and site evaluation is to evaluate and document site conditions and characteristics in sufficient detail to allow interpretation by local regulating authorities and design engineers to determine whether the parcel is suited for rural development.

At a minimum,a soil survey would consist of one backhoe pit, or soil boring every 200 feet to determine soil characteristics relating to suitability for on-site wastewater systems. This allows the determination of seasonally high groundwater and permeability, which affect the soil's ability to be used to treat wastewater.
